TENDEN could make anything cropped and I would be all about it. I own too many cropped tanks to count (or add up the cost ;)) and had to add this amazing cropped hoodie to my mix. I swear he makes these things just in my size so I am more tempted to buy everything :)
A couple weekends back I had the chance to go to Nashville for vacation and did the most touristy thing you can do! The Country Music Hall of Fame. I have been to Nashville before but had always left this little gem out of my trip. I am more of a music and whiskey kinda person not a touristy kinda gal. But I had to do it.
Country music stars wore some of the coolest pieces. I am obsessed with all of these jackets especially the one on the right.
Everyone needs a farm embroidered stage costume! The embroidery was amazing on all of these old country stage costumes....I was in vintage fashion geek heaven.
Two Tuesdays ago (wow I am behind on blogging...) I had the pleasure of attending a local vegan event hosted by Vegan Grand Rapids (Vegan GR). Called Vegan Drinks, the first of a hopefully recurring series occurred at Rezervoir Lounge in Grand Rapids was a wonderful event.
It was wonderful to get together with like minded people and discuss vegan topics. I even brought up my whole thing about leather and some people really understood my dilemma and sympathized! I did go out of my way to wear a completely VEGAN outfit. Pants and shirt by TENDEN all cotton, boots (made terribly) faux leather and a canvas bag. A faux leather jacket completed my look and was the start of the leather talk. There are multiple tears in the vinyl on the back and I have had it under a year.
The lovely hosts and creators of Vegan GR Jon Dunn and Kolene Allen. And below the delicious vegan "crab cakes". I couldn't get enough of them!
Chris Montgomery the chef at the Rez is amazing. He talked a lot about his theory that everyone should have an option of something amazing to eat at a restaurant no matter the restrictions! Love that style. He had just visited somewhere in Cali and said GR has an even better vegan selection...love hearing how awesome and progressive my area is w/ food!
All in all I had an amazing time and cannot wait for the next one! I loved networking and meeting new people who love amazing vegan food! Vegan GR is also on Facebook! Check em out HERE
So my lack of posting lately comes with a legitimate excuse this time as opposed to my traditional 'ive been lazy and can't keep a good blog schedule' reasoning. We have been without power since mid-afternoon Sunday and my travels got completely cluster-messed-up because of all the weather issues. Minor problems compared to what others are dealing with but the black out definitely causes priorities to change! Funny enough before I left for my trip I decided to have a little grey party with my clothing so voila! Here is the grey out. This day was so ridiculously snowy and cold I asked my friend Todd of TENDEN to snap some shots while I did a studio visit.
A lot of people within the area don't have power but what bothers me more is my work at Harbor Humane we don't have power. We are without running water without power so we are relying on the kindness of our community to bring water. Stressful! Hopefully it can be restored soon.
AHHH vacation :) I needed this. I didn't expect to NOT post at all but I have just been loving my time off and decided to take it off of everything. But I logged on just cause I missed you guys!
Ya'll know how much I love mixing prints, and I kept it going with this outfit this day. I love playing with all the purple in my closet while I have purple hair and had to just do it up. Also who doesn't love a good bow!
I really just enjoy having wildlife on my clothing. In general. These mallards though are freaking fantastic. Add in the purple hair and a deep green velvet bow with some super wide-leg jeans and its this classy/electic look for fall/winter. The full purple is slowly fading out and I am kind of sad! But I need to re-join the world of human hair color for a bit.
