just a little spring

spring vintage skirt
The sun is peaking out which just makes everything feel like spring. The crocuses are blooming and everything is just starting to green up. I finally feel like I can pull out things that expose my legs and not freeze my little bum off.

I tromped through my woods with my dogs and my tripod for these shots. I enjoyed being able to not feel like I had to quickly take photos this day, I felt like I had all the time in the world to set up and capture these moments without losing fingers to frostbite. My hair is also getting a little too 'fluffy' for my liking. Time for a trim!!!

snow-nado

IMG_0137
We got a crap ton of snow in the past few weeks. Now it is finally melting but thankfully but WOW. Snow pocalypse or polar vortex I am just calling that a snow-nado. It now looks like a hot nasty mess outside with brown snow and melty puddles, tons of pot holes. I am over it. Looking back at these photos from the beautiful snow before the melt makes me want to go back. Not to the snow-nado but before that when there was a dusting of snow on everything and everything had a freshness. I am over the gloomy melt and ready for more. Bring it winter.

cropped winter

IMG_0029
The arctic craziness has actually taken over the world and while I have been absent since New Years Eve I actually took these photos last week. I am so thankful that I could work from home Monday and Tuesday, the roads today were so awful and I can't even imagine trying to have done that the past 2 days. If I was doing the year challenge right now you would best bet I would have some missing days! NO one could convince me to go out in this weather it just screams NO FUN at all for shooting! I even cancelled a few professional shoots cause of the weather because lets face it babies and dogs in the cold doesn't seem like a good idea.

Pretty obsessed with the highwaisted pants at American Apparel. I quickly realized after this shoot that I would NEVER wear this outfit as is again (I would likely skip the white tank or do a color or something I kinda look frumpy). But who doesn't love my TENDEN hand printed sweatshirt!!!! Eek! So cute, I saw similar ones on Todd's instagram and begged him to make me one in red/blue with the goat and chicken :D Kind of reminds me of my days in Alabama with George (pronounced Jorge (don't ask)) and the chickens. Ahhh it was warm there (it isn't now!!!)

Sometimes it just takes looking at a few photographs to go 'ok this does not work!' but i still love all the pieces of the outfit so I wanted to share :D

pants problems

IMG_3222edit
I love these pants.
Dead stock vintage high-waist flares. I had been looking for the perfect ones for-EVER but because I had to try them on (just how i am with pants!) my choices were limited. I finally came across a great pair at one of my favorite vintage stores in Portland, OR called LuLu's Vintage. During the year of slow fashion (keep portland weird) I wore them for the blog once fresh off the rack while I was still actually on my visit to Portland. Well then I washed them and now they are all 'stone washed' with lines and !@#$ everywhere. My mom says this is a normal thing and I shouldn't be worried but it makes me sad/angry. I just wanted them to stay pristine and perfect. If I wouldn't have spilled Voodoo donuts on them I probably wouldn't have washed them and gotten a few fresh uses of them but of course, I did. SO I washed them. I am debating re-dyeing them but am also just growing accustomed to the vintage look of them.

Currently obsessed with this vintage fascinator! It came into my work and my colleagues were YUP Rachel will want this. And boy were they right :D I have another that is black that just looks killer with the purple hair. But I am kind of loving the brown combo. It picks up some of the golden brown that still in my hair. In fact I am so obsessed with fascinators right now I keep Hearting them on ETSY!

This bag holds the perfect amount of stuff! My phone, keys (complete with mini Rubik cube {yes I am a dork} and moo card holder), Wolverine wallet, lip-gloss and LUSH solid perfume fit perfectly! I even have space to throw in a small paperback and my sunglasses for a day of errands.

The more I think about it the more I will am leaning toward keeping them all funky washed, maybe if I was them more it will look less like a mistake and more like it was meant to be! But who knows maybe I will go crazy, get some denim dye and do em up again. What do you think I should do?

grunge time

I've been really into wearing band tshirts lately. Highwaisted items and plaid. I just got these sweet ass boots as a gift and adding them to any outfit instantaneously transports me back to grunge city 90s style. I am obsessed w/ trying to get this look to work for me. This is my version. This was excessively comfortable for the weather today (not very often do I actually post photos same day but I was going to link up w/ IFB's latest project...but silly me missed the deadline..ah well still getting the hang of my calendar update on my phone :P). Anyway I love combining blacks and browns and blues to look like a giant bruise person. I think having blonde hair really adds to the grunge factor of this. I just need slightly darker roots to make this look legit. And maybe some greasy hair (ew).

Second story today. As i was taking these photos these guys were loading their boat into the garage next to this one and were like hey! what are you taking pictures of??? I reply: well right now I am taking photos of this wall but soon it will be me. They looked at me like I was insane. Which I might be but at high noon this spot always has rad-tastic lighting so I forgo my awesomness for a moment and just look like a total dweeb. Good times
