booked for the season

It is not a new thing to my readers that I love reading (haha see what i did there...clearly you like reading too!) But I normally talk about how much I LOVE my local library. Which don't get me wrong I totally do. You can get any book you want to read and don't pile up masses of books that you paid absurd amounts of money for....HOWEVER there are times when I like to OWN a book. I love old books, books with stories, bookplates that have other peoples names in them and a history of their own. I like books that are no longer published and you just can't find in the library and second hand book stores are just the place for me. 
I first came across Booked for the Season by accident. I was hoping to head to my local natural food store and couldn't find a parking spot. So I parked right in front of Booked for the Season and headed over to get my vegan nom on. On my way back the word BOOK bounced out at me and I had to check it out. This store is adorable and if you are into thrifting or book searching at all this is just your kind of place.  There is something magical about the hunt for books. They have tons of titles you would never have heard of. I love this shelf of older books so much. The owner also has set up a table near the cozy seating area in the first photo of the store with 'different books'. This space is meant for those who may come along with the book lover in their life but don't want to search on their own. These book are meant to get them interested. Some really funny and interesting reads in this pile.  So if your going to BUY books I highly recommend trying to get them used locally first. Then you can scour the internet for used versions as well, amazon is a great resource for this but I am also a huge fan of book exchanges like BookMooch (you can get rid of some books you no longer want! and find really cool international copies of stuff too.  I am trying to live more locally so I am using Booked for the Season as my local used book shop of choice. If I cannot find something at the library I may then head over to my other favorite local NEW book shop Bookman's and fork over the cash to them instead of Barnes and Noble or Amazon. fall favorite

I love everything about fall. Fall colors, the weather change and especially getting to wear my favorite jacket again. This jacket is very special to me. It was my mom's from back in the day and it stood the test of time and landed right into my closet. It is REAL leather. As a vegan i take issue with leather production but I still buy leather shoes (more on that in a later post) and will totally buy used leather or take this coat for instance, keep timeless treasures that have meaning. Also excuse the somewhat graininess of these photos. Light is a little biatch who goes away to quickly after work! Thats right. Superior yoga balance skills in action!  Do you have a prized piece in your closet that has a great story? I have SO MANY and these are the things that would be extremely hard for me to let go of.

So amped they are here!

I had asked Todd to make me white skinnies last fall and he finally had time to make them. I basically have to coat them in coconut oil and myself to get them on and off but they are absolutely worth the wait and the effort. I heart heart them. And then there was this bag made with vintage fabric he had JUST finished when i was coming to pick them up..needless to say it took about 6 seconds for me to say MINE.

i just wanted to say i had such fun with the blog hop yesterday! I found so many cool new blogs to follow and some great new followers! thanks to Peacoats and Plaid for the chance to hop! And thanks to everyone who participated!

Probably my favorite way to layer is with my leather jacket that was my mom's. I had a minor freak out and thought I lost it, called almost everyone and everywhere I had been the past few days only to find it hidden behind the dog food.....I feel like my jacket is a part of my style totally and when i thought i lost it i felt like i lost part of my soul. Do you have any pieces in your closet that are your favorite? That you would quite literally cry if you lost?
